Since the advent of the Internet and new technologies, there has been a real revolution in the classroom. Where pencil, paper and books were once the main protagonists, computers, tablets and interactive technologies are increasingly gaining ground.
In this context, NETiquette was born, a code of conduct, necessary to behave correctly in the digital world .
Mar Castro is a pioneer in the research and dissemination of NETiquette in Spain, and is also a teacher at various universities and business schools in Spain and Latin America. Her passion is communication and she firmly believes that “we are what we communicate.”
Do you think that ICTs are the educational tools of the present and the future in classrooms?
Without a doubt, the opportunities they belgium phone data offer in terms of knowledge, information, participation, relationships, communication, entertainment, etc., are extraordinary. ICTs must be present in teaching, with their use, format and time of use conditioned by each specific subject or activity.
Developing the technological skills of children, young people and adults is a necessity and an obligation for states, schools and families.
What dangers can arise from the use of digital platforms and devices in educational environments?
One of the greatest risks of using technology, regardless of the platforms or devices used, are the different types of harassment to which students can be subjected , mainly: sexting – extortion with sexual images of young people -, cyberbullying – harassment between peers -, grooming – blackmail with the intention of sexual satisfaction from adults to young people - and morphing – photo montage of pornographic content -.
Other dangers include frequenting “dangerous” or inappropriate places if no one warns them of the dangers they pose; not knowing how to react and act in the face of inappropriate or annoying comments; and loss of privacy. Controlling the use of any technological device does not turn young people – wrongly called digital natives – into people prepared to move safely, creatively and responsibly on the Internet.
