What is known about the updated system of higher education in Russia

The press service of the Ministry of Education and Science has not yet reported on the essence of the updated higher education system in Russia, which will start operating on September 1, 2026. However, the india mobile database head of the department, Valery Falkov, previously stated that 2025 will be devoted to active actions to transition to a new model of higher education. At the same time, the decree of the President of Russia on improving the national higher education system is currently being implemented in the country.

Today, six leading Russian universities are participating in the pilot project, which was launched back in May 2023: Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), MISIS University of Science and Technology, Moscow State Pedagogical University (MPGU), Baltic Federal University (BFU), Saint Petersburg Mining University (SPSU), and Tomsk State University (TSU).

As part of the pilot project, students of these universities receive basic higher education, specialized higher education in master's programs and professional higher education in postgraduate programs. And if we focus on the course of this experiment, we can assume what the main changes in higher education will be, says the first vice-rector of the Russian State Social University (RSSU) Djomart Aliyev in an interview with RIA Novosti.
