Eyetracking hardware tracks the user's gaze as they use the interface.
This type of research is useful for many purposes, including evaluating visual design. It is especially useful for studying what people read and don't read on the Internet.
Most of the studies discussed below contained both quantitative and qualitative components.
Quantitative event tracking studies aggregate viewing behavior across a large number of participants. Results include heat maps and gaze metrics, such as the average number of fixations on a particular element of interest in an interface.
