Pop-ups: Yes, but there are rules

Be careful with pop-ups. If it's the first thing that pops up across the screen, it's not exactly the ideal solution. Pop-ups should be placed either discreetly in a corner where they don't distract the user while browsing the website, or targeted to relevant pages (e.g., newsletter subscription pop-ups should be placed on blog pages).
