The Retail Transformation 2.0 research shows how widespread and used IoT is

Post by mdabuhasan »

The Retail Transformation 2.0 research , conducted by the Digital Transformation Institute and CFMT , reveals a low level of familiarity with IoT among Italians and a concrete use that does not reach half of the interviewees.

The typical user is male, young, with a high level of education, advanced digital skills and high digital self-esteem: this is the identikit of the user who claims to be familiar with the term IoT, Internet of Things , but research highlights how little known this term actually is.

This year's research also explored people's relationship buy bulk sms service with technology in the retail sector, highlighting how few people are familiar with the term. The research found that these gaps are most evident among people over 55, those with a low level of education, and those with self-reported basic digital skills.

Internet-connected appliances and, more generally, " network-interfaced devices " are the definitions most often associated with the term IoT by consumers. If we look closely at actual usage, we find that, despite the claims, less than half of people have experienced a connected object.

" The data tells us ," comments Stefano Epifani, president of the Digital Transformation Institute , " that Italy is, on the one hand, a voracious consumer of technology—think of the spread of smartphones and social media—and, on the other, struggling, due to a lack of widespread awareness, when it comes to going beyond a Facebook "like." We are still wary of increasingly widespread tools, and we are unable to shed a fear that, however, struggles to transform into a drive to understand phenomena that are changing our lives ."
