Number Formatting and Integrations
1. Go to the Results page and click on “Rules.”

2. Write out the rules you want to build, one step at a time. For instance, if your rule is A+B=C, it should look like this:

A+B
Rule 1/C
You can add new rules by clicking the green button at the bottom of the “Edit Rules” tab. You can delete a rule by clicking it and clicking on the trash can.

3. Change “Rule” to “Calculations .” Then put in the name of the calculation you want to create. Hit “OK” when you’re done to save your work.

4. Click on “Results” to see what users will see when they are done using your calculator. You’ll see a text box that says, “Wow! You Could Save {{total savings percent}}%!”.

5. Change “total savings percent” to the calculation you want to add, i.e. {{ROI}}.

6. To change this to a dollar amount, select “Another Rule” and call it “Number Formatting.” Add the category and then add the dollar value. It should look like this: $ {{0:1,596.00}}

7. Go to preview mode to test.

8. Activate the integration form to save data on Ion. First, click on the form from which you want to save data. If it doesn’t already have a data set, go to the rules bar.

9. Add your data. Select “Run Integration” and then “Integrate into Ion Platform.” When you’re done, click “OK.”

10. Now it’s time to publish your calculator. Go to the creative page. You’ll see the text “[training] interactive calculator.” Click on it and then change your calculator from “draft” to “engaged.”

11. Click on the add URL button to add your URL. Select “URL Tracking” to track traffic sources. Save your work, and you’re done.

12. If you want to add the calculator to multiple sites, click on the “Embed Code” button. You can add your calculator to as many sites as you’d like.

6 Success Cases Using an Interactive Calculator
The average landing page has a conversion rate of 2.35%. However, landing pages with interactive content have a whopping 55% conversion rate.

Online calculators are an ideal form of interactive content. They offer personalized help and counsel. They also boost your credibility, lower bounce rates, and increase user engagement.

Another great thing about online calculators is that just about any industry can use them. Check out the following examples to get ideas on how to add an online calculator to your website.

1. Tax Bill Calculator
The New York Times created a calculator for its site that showed personalized tax information. Users only had to answer several questions regarding location, number of children, monthly salary, and investment to see the results.

The calculator fared well on Google and got plenty of shares on social media. It also generated more links than NYT’s quizzes. While quizzes posted on the site have a 3,2K backlink volume, the calculator has around 6.4K.
