Setting up navigation in WordPress – adding and editing a menu – is not rocket science. But because I am asked this question every now and then, here is the long answer as a blog post

1. Create a WordPress menu
Normally, every template comes with at least a simple main menu. You can then either customize it to your liking – or create a new one.

First of all, I have to say that you need administrator rights to create or edit a menu. I find this very inconvenient, because it's really not that difficult.

To create or edit a menu, click on Design in the WordPress menu on the left and then on Menus . The following applies to this and all subsequent screenshots: Simply click on the image, then it will be displayed larger and you can read all the settings better!
