Typical components of an editorial calendar:
temporal structure
Define time periods: An editorial calendar can be planned on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. The choice depends on your content frequency and goals.
Recurring content: Identify recurring formats or fixed themes, such as weekly LinkedIn posts or monthly blog articles.
Flexibility: Leave room for spontaneous content or current topics that become relevant at short notice.
media and platforms
Define the platforms on which the content bank data will be published and on which you will interact.
Don't just think about social networks, but create an overarching structure for all areas of personal communication, including your own media, press work (...). Mark interfaces to overarching corporate communication.
content formats
Add a column that indicates the content format: text (e.g. blog article, social media post), video, infographic, survey, etc.
Define which format is suitable for which target group. Videos could serve to attract broad attention, whereas specialist articles offer deeper insights for experts.
topics and key messages
List all relevant topics that you want to cover over a certain period of time, based on your content strategy and the interests of your target groups.
Complement each topic line with a clearly formulated core message that you want your audience to take away.
