Defining roles doesn't mean handing out titles. It's about clarifying who does what, when and how. Assigning directly responsible persons (DRPs) makes this even clearer.

Here's how roles are effectively defined:

Workflow Map: Map all of your team's recurring tasks and projects. For each, ask yourself: Who owns it? Who supports it?
Assign DRIs: Decide who will be the ultimate owner (or DRI) of a task, decision, or product. For example, in a product launch, the DRI for “marketing content” could be the content manager.
Document it all: Create a team handbook with well-organized sections for different roles, responsibilities, DRIs, etc. The goal is to store and organize all essential team information in one easy-to-access location.
