Even so, in view of a debatable improvement in the situation of the global health crisis, the games took place during this year 2021.
However, it has been one of the most challenging editions in its history, with no live audience and the restrictions of the time. To analyse the impact of such a significant event, Semrush wanted to explore the impact on digital media of this edition using its own tools, thus launching its report: The digital perspective of the 2020 Olympic Games: key figures and facts .

How the Games affected consumer demand
One of the aspects analysed in the SEMrush report is the austria business email database impact that the celebration of this competition has had on the eCommerce level. Beyond the opportunity it represents for athletes, sponsors and all organisations related to the Olympics, this event also tends to cause a stir in consumer habits in the sports sector.
This year was no different. The SEMrush team conducted an analysis of over 6,000 Amazon searches related to sports products, conducted during the duration of the event, and found a substantial 900% increase in sales for the most popular sports products . Additionally, nearly 31% of the products evaluated had their highest search peaks of the year during the competition. Within the searches, those that showed the greatest increase in searches were tennis, golf, swimming, gymnastics and volleyball products , some of the most popular disciplines.
