WhatsApp , the instant messaging social network owned by Meta, has recently been identified by the Digital Markets Act (DMA) as one of the “gatekeepers.” This means that the platform will need to be able to interoperate with third-party messaging apps by March 2024.
As a first step towards interoperability, WhatsApp is working on developing a separate section of the default inbox called "third-party chat" , as reported by digital media WABetaInfo on its X hong kong number data account. The idea is that users can receive and view messages sent from third-party messaging applications .
Let us remember that the objective of the DMA is to eliminate unfair competition and prevent large international technology companies from abusing their power over other smaller services or platforms.
