Twitter triumphs, Jack Dorsey is ousted

In 2007, Twitter officially became an independent company and Jack Dorsey became CEO. During this time, users and traffic began to increase significantly, going from 20,000 to 70,000 tweets a day . Also, in August of that same year, a user, Chris Messina, invented (by chance) the hashtag , which would later be implemented on the platform.
Chris Messina was the first person to (accidentally) come up with the idea of the hashtag. He suggested using the hashtag to talk between groups of people.
On the surface, things were going well, but within the company, the quarrels between the founders were becoming more and more evident. Until Williams, in another typical movie villain act, suggested the expulsion of Jack Dorsey , a decision that everyone in the company agreed with.
Under Williams as CEO, Twitter continued to grow and the bosnia and herzegovina number data number of users exploded. Suffice it to say that the number of unique users increased by 1,300% in 2009 and went from 5 to 71 million users . A huge success. The problem was that the platform began to suffer continuous crashes.
The end of Evan Williams and the triumphant return of Jack Dorsey
As the platform continued to crash and the problem went unsolved, the criticism grew. Williams had overseen the wild growth in users, but he was not good at making the right decisions . He and Biz Stone knew they would need to hire a large number of employees to get the job done. In fact, Twitter became a mess ; despite having 145 million users, it did not generate much revenue.
Finally, faced with this unsustainable situation, Twitter's board members decided to fire Evan Williams and bring back Jack Dorsey as CEO. Dick Costolo , an entrepreneur and former comedian, replaced Williams as CEO until Jack Dorsey took over in 2015, a position he held until his resignation in 2021. Biz Stone ended up leaving the company in June 2011 due to lack of support.
