The Rules for Finding Your Ikigai

Breathe Mindfully: The first time my smartwatch sent me a notification to “remind me to breathe” I burst out laughing. In fact, I soon realized that more often than I care to admit, the way I was breathing was influenced by a multitude of factors. It was at that moment that I realized that breathing badly leads to tiredness and an unnecessary expenditure of energy. Remembering to breathe mindfully is the first rule when it comes to Ikigiai. It will help you relax, focus on your goals and live better.
Eat healthily: Taking care of yourself also means eating healthily and in a balanced way. This doesn't mean you can't indulge - what would the world be without it - but it's good to avoid overdoing it. You know that turkey email list feeling of fullness after a lunch or dinner that's too big? Well, that too much is exactly the part of the meal that you need to avoid.
Exercise: Does the phrase "mens sana in corpore sano" ring a bell? It's not just a famous phrase, exercise helps fight stress, is a source of well-being and enhances your physical and mental abilities. Are you sure you want to give up all these benefits?

Balance life and work: especially if you have a business or work as a freelancer, you know how difficult it is sometimes to find the right balance between life and work. You end up not being able to do either one thing or the other well, and very often you sleep little and badly. Being able to balance life and work is essential to finding your Ikigai and being able to have a happy life.
Live with others: Remember when I told you about Okinawa and the sense of belonging to a community? Perfect. Being with others, whether they are friends, acquaintances, family members or complete strangers, will have so many positive effects on your life. Discovering new stimuli, opinions and ideas different from your own will stimulate your creativity and curiosity, and being part of a community will help you create that precious sense of belonging that you can't do without to find your Ikigai.
