Other people have to deal with office politics, mean bosses, heavy workloads, etc. when they go to their offices, but some of my coworkers and I have to worry about fighting the bulge. You see, when food comes to us unsolicited throughout the day, the biggest fear for a foodie like me is gaining extra pounds.
How bad can it be, you ask… well, here’s a quick overview buy phone number list of what we eat on a typical workday. But don’t worry, this blog is definitely not about healthy habits.

Walk into Vtiger on any given morning and you’ll be greeted by flasks of hot filter coffee, tea, and laughter. At 11am, it’s the first break of the day, and people want to talk to each other. All sorts of topics fly by at a fast pace – work, history, science, holidays, movies. You name it, we’ll discuss it while consuming copious amounts of tea or coffee. It’s our version of a water cooler gathering.
Have you heard of water cooler meetings?
It's a phenomenon where employees gather around water coolers. The Water Cooler Study found that employees were mentally and physically healthier after spending time around the water cooler…that water cooler meetings improve employee well-being." 1
Coffee is quickly followed by healthy snacks – cucumbers, carrots, dried fruits and nuts, sprouts… which almost no one eats. No surprise!!
The terrace cafeteria is a haven for delicious food and conversation
And suddenly it's lunch time. Do you know that every day we eat 5-6 dishes of South Indian vegetarian pasta - roti, some curries, rice, sambhar, rasam, curd, papad, sweet, ew... but what we really look forward to is the chicken kebabs and chicken biriyani that are served twice a week. I assure you, the footfall increases on those days.
I love lunch breaks. The cafeteria on the terrace brings together people from different teams and levels – new employees, managers, programmers, sales, etc. You stop at their tables and chat for a few minutes – mostly about what the best dish in the buffet is.
Surprisingly, in the midst of all this hubbub, you also get to go online and connect. These informal chats are great for collaborating with other teams. The atmosphere is relaxed, no one is in a hurry, people are open to discussions.
Most importantly, your target is tied to the table – they can’t leave you when you say you want to talk to them, .

I can easily compare the cafeteria to Vtiger One – an opportunity to gather and share information from different sources in the organization. Some of our best ideas have been born in this relaxed atmosphere.
By 4pm you’re bloated and in a food stupor. AC doesn’t help.
The smart ones in the office play table tennis or go for a walk. Some of us sit and ramble, as if words will make the carbs disappear.
Just when you think you’ve eaten too much for the day, it’s time for more coffee and tea.
I refuse, but how can I stay disciplined when the smell of hot masala puri wafts at me. I follow it like Mowgli following Ka , thinking I can finish this blog another day.
Eat, talk, collaborate… conversations over coffee, chips and cottage cheese
