Puerto del Carmen, the main seaside resort of Lanzarote

Post by sakib40 »

If you travel to the east coast of the island of Lanzarote , you will certainly not miss the sublime and unmissable Puerto del Carmen. A favorite destination of the British , Germans and Scandinavians , it is defined by a seafront loan data stretching for miles with fine sandy beaches, shops and charming little boutiques. Its territory is mainly dotted with star hotels, holiday villas and luxury apartments that perfectly meet the needs of tourists.

The oldest and most popular seaside resort in Lanzarote , Puerto del Carmen was formed in the 1900s when it was home to just 200 inhabitants. The area was located around the old fishing village of La Tiñosa. The development of the tourist resort then began with the construction of the Farines and San Antonio hotels in the 60s and 70s. The name " Puerto del Carmen " was chosen to pay homage to the patron saint of sailors: Our Lady of Mount Carmel . The resort thus extended over 6 km of golden sand beaches, from the eastern part of the old port to the international airport. To learn more about the history of this town, a visit to its traditional villages (La Asomada, Conil, La Geria, Tías, etc.) is highly recommended.
