My failed attempt to rank “marketing” in the top 10
For those who practice SEO, there is something magical about this. You start optimizing and “out of nowhere” your page goes up to the top 10 of Google. Those who read this blog frequently know that I am japan phone number sample not an SEO nor do I practice it much on this blog . It is usually a surprise when I realize that there is a post that ranks well for a popular keyword. On these occasions I do “reactive SEO” to go up 2-3 more positions by putting internal links from new posts. I am not good at this nor do I try. When I do it I usually waste my time.
One of those “reactive SEO” attempts was to get into the top 10 with the keyword “marketing” when I discovered that I was in position number 11 without having done anything. These types of generic terms are more about prestige than anything because they don’t contribute much in terms of conversion . Who searches for marketing on Google? More students or more entrepreneurs? With the exception of student entrepreneurs, the younger public doesn’t contribute much to me because their interest in the topics I share is not usually intrinsic (there are always exceptions of course). My experience is that they “use” me as a source of information (or interview) but then they forget about the blog.
Focus on combinations that are simpler and provide higher conversions
