A few years ago, while enjoying a day of skiing in Aspen Highlands with a group of girlfriends, a skier crashed into me from above, out of nowhere. He was a professional skier traveling at an unusually high speed, and I consider myself lucky to have escaped with only a leg injury. I couldn’t put weight on my leg, so I went to the local emergency room.
After a few hours of scans by various doctors and nurses armenia number data to diagnose the problem, a new doctor I had never met walked into the room. The first words out of his mouth were, “You have a radial tear in your medial meniscus.” I had no idea what he was talking about. He continued in a tone more suited to a medical colleague than a patient.
I wasn't interested in medical-speak at all. I was a new mom, eager to get back to my family. I wanted to know how long and to what extent this injury would affect us, and how active I could be at home while caring for my son.
I didn't get any answers to any of these questions. Instead, my doctor left me feeling overwhelmed, lost, and frustrated.
