PageRank Sculpting
While we’re talking about Google not crawling nofollow links, let’s also discuss the PageRank actions associated with the nofollow attribute.

People began using nofollow tags to artificially funnel PageRank to the pages they wanted, a tactic that came to be known as PageRank sculpting.

This technique (also known as PageRank scultping) is no longer effective now, but there are still many people who believe that you can "pass more authority" to your own pages by no-following other links on the page .

To prevent PR sculpting, Google changed the way PageRank flows. Previously, if a spain mobile database page had both nofollow and dofollow links, all of that page's PR would be passed to other pages linked to using dofollow links. In 2009, Google began to divide a page's PR equally among all of its links, but only pass on those shares given to dofollow links.

PageRank process before and after 2009
After completing PageRank sculpting, Google did not stop the link spam war, so it began to remove PageRank scores from the public eye. First, Google launched the new Chrome browser without the Google Toolbar showing the PR score. Then, they stopped reporting the PR score in Google Search Console, and soon after, the Firefox browser stopped supporting the Google Toolbar. In 2013, PageRank was last updated for Internet Explorer, and in 2016 Google officially shut down the toolbar for the public.
