The report notes a slight shift towards electronics and groceries in 2020-2025, despite the overall category distribution remaining relatively stable.
Acceptance and major retailers
Switzerland's online retail penetration rate is currently 14%, and is forecast to reach 15.8% by 2025 , still below the global average and the average of its neighboring countries, Austria and Germany. In 2023, according to ECDB's analysis of conversion funnel KPIs, the cart abandonment rate is 8.4% , the add-to-cart rate is 11.4%, and the conversion rate is 3%.
