The characteristics of a winning value proposition

Post by mayaboti »

We have seen that the fundamental elements are: what is it, who is it for and why is it useful. These do not seem like very complex questions… In reality, simplicity is a point of arrival and clarity is not always so obvious.

If people have a doubt in their head when reading your value proposition (“hmph?”), then you are not on the right track. The right information is necessary to stimulate conversions, but if there is too much, the risk is to find investor through investor database confuse the reader.

Therefore, an effective value proposition must:

Be clear, easy to understand at first reading

Communicate a tangible benefit, preferably accompanied by percentages and numbers

Explain why it is different and preferable to competitors

Avoid sensational and superlative tones

Include a bulleted list if possible.

How to position yourself ahead of competitors with a winning value proposition
The key role of the value proposition is to position yourself ahead of the competition. Obviously, before communicating it, you must be sure that you have found your differentiating element . Usually, you review 4-5 services (even if you sell a product, it could be customer service, reception, shipping service, etc.) and compare them with those of competitors , to find different/better options.
