Normally, everyone talks about their success, about how well they did at something or other. I think that's something that is increasingly seen these days and it's the opposite of sounding hopeful. For me, it's even distressing. Social media is filled with videos of people showing off what they have.
We believe that our entrepreneurial story is not only funny, but also close to what happens to all of us: failure.
My first venture
It's hard to pinpoint which one it was, but when I think about it there's one that comes to mind quickly, the WordPress job portal.
This was my first attempt, the first time I tried, tried, tried to achieve something that didn't work, or at least not the way I thought it would.
My idea was to monetize through Google Ads with ads on my job site, which were popular because it was a pandemic and there were a lot of people out of work. I built my website, which wasn't easy. I didn't know anything jamaica telephone number data about it so I started researching how to do it. I watched hundreds of tutorials on YouTube until I finally got it right, I had the ugliest site ever haha! Yes, it was a little ugly.
In this first venture, I realized that the hard part wasn’t making the website, the hard part was getting someone to come and see it. One night, my mom told me, “Okay, I’ll share with you an SEO course that they’re promoting in a Wpp group.” What!? I said. What was SEO? I had some reason for starting the course and I think that after finishing it I understood a little about what organic positioning was all about.
When we started at university, my professor María Alegre told us about an entrepreneurs club that, for some reason, had been forgotten. Moved by the idea of revitalizing this space, my friends and I decided to take the initiative. In one of our first meetings, the question arose about which speakers we could invite. At first, some conservative ideas came up, but I felt that we could aspire to more. With that motivation, I proposed a challenge to my friends: “Why don’t we try to bring in some of the most influential CEOs in the country?” That same week, I sent messages through LinkedIn and, to our surprise, we got Manuel Beaudroit, CEO and co-founder of Belo, and the CEO and co-founder of Agrotoken as our first speakers.
