The weather was pretty chilly

Post by sakibkhan22197 »

Hey guys! I hope you had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend! Mine was a bit different than last year and certainly didn’t involve as much crazy shenanigans with my friends in Dewey Beach, DE, but was still fun nonetheless.

This year I decided to abstain from the drunken festivities in Delaware with my friends for a few reasons:

I thought we were going to be in Italy this weekend and therefore avoided signing up with my friends from the beginning (this trip is now moved to July 4 week…woohoo!)
Fabio’s family all came into town from New York which hardly ever happens, so he wanted to use the opportunity to show them around Maryland
Most importantly, my grandfather got out of the hospital this weekend (wooohoooo!!!!) and I wasn’t sure if we were going to be heading down to see him (it looks like this will happen over Father’s Day instead so that the whole family can be there)
I was a little sad about my choice to stay home from the beach this year, but I wound up having a fabulous weekend anyway and in the end I decided doing stuff with Fabio’s family meant a lot more to him than a drunken weekend at the beach would have made for me. Plus I just saw all my besties when we went to Punta Cana in April, so I didn’t feel too bad. It’s all about managing your priorities.
Anyway, I took about a million pictures from this weekend, which took for-ev-er to load, so this is going to be more of a “snapshots” post with mostly pictures and only a few words. Enjoy!!
Friday

On Friday night, Fabio and I headed into Baltimore to enjoy a nice dinner at Rusty Scupper with his family. His sister Diane just graduated with her masters degree from Johns Hopkins and celebrated her birthday, which was the whole reason Fabio’s family was in town. It was so nice to see them all!

, but the view from Rusty Scupper was awesome.

Oyster sampler to start!

Crabcakes, mashed potatoes, and veggies for my dinner. Nom!

Cake and champagne for the graduate/brithday girl!

Check out that view behind her…

The whole gang!

Saturday

On Saturday my mom and stepdad hosted a BBQ for all of Fabio’s family.

I made these cookies from Iowa Girl Eats, and this coleslaw from Hungry Girl. They both turned out awesome!!

(No pic of the coleslaw- sorry!)

My mom’s backyard was perfect for the BBQ- all her flowers were in bloom!

It was around 70 degrees and sunny- perfect for a party outside.

We snapped a few photos before everyone arrived.

Thanks for hosting, mom!!

There were plenty of drinks on hand ;)

Fabio’s dad brought more than 10 pounds of meat for grilling. Sheesh!!

On my plate: smoked ribs with homemade BBQ sauce, one deviled egg, homemade dataset potato salad, sausage, a mini arepa, grilled broccoli, and my homemade cole slaw.
