How to test skin care products at home

Post by rakhirhif8963 »

Today, the market offers a huge number of skin care products with completely different compositions. Therefore, there is a high probability of purchasing a product that will cause skin irritation or even allergic contact dermatitis.

Fortunately, testing products on small patches of skin beforehand can help you “predict” whether a product is right for you. To reliably test a skin care product, AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) dermatologists recommend the following steps.

Choose a patch of skin about 2 x 2 cm in size where the product will not rub off or wash off, such as the inside of your arm or the inside of your elbow. Use the same amount of product as you would on a regular basis. Apply the product to the patch and leave it on for as long as you normally would.

If you're testing a product that requires rinsing, such as a cleanser, leave it on your skin for as long as the instructions say.

It is worth keeping in mind that some ingredients, such as retinol and glycolic acid, may irritate the skin, especially if it is sensitive. This reaction is considered normal and temporary.

If you develop a skin reaction after using the product, rinse rcs database off gently as soon as possible and do not use it again. If necessary, apply a cool compress or Vaseline to the area to soothe the skin. If the reaction to the product is severe and does not respond to cool compresses or Vaseline, you may need to see a dermatologist to help manage your symptoms.

If after seven to ten days of using a new product in test mode on a limited area of skin you do not experience a reaction such as redness, itching or swelling of the skin, then you can safely add the product to your “beauty arsenal” and use it as usual.
